The government has today reaffirmed its commitment to the implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, marking a critical step in advancing bipartisan reforms aimed at strengthening governance and national cohesion.
Speaking during a briefing in Nairobi, leaders involved in the implementation of the NADCO recommendations outlined progress made so far and announced plans to roll out nationwide public participation forums. The forums are expected to gather views from stakeholders and the public on the proposed reforms contained in the committee’s 10-point agenda.
The NADCO report, which emerged from bipartisan talks between the government and the opposition, seeks to address key national issues including electoral reforms, inclusivity in governance, cost of living concerns, and institutional accountability. Its implementation has been viewed as a cornerstone in stabilising the political environment and fostering unity following prolonged political tensions.
Officials noted that a joint parliamentary engagement involving legislators from both the ruling coalition and the opposition is being planned to review progress and ensure consensus on the way forward. The move is expected to fast-track legislative action on proposals that require parliamentary approval.
In addition, the implementation committee indicated that structured consultations with civil society, private sector players, faith-based organisations, and youth groups will be prioritised to ensure the reforms reflect the aspirations of Kenyans.
Political analysts observe that the renewed focus on the NADCO report signals an attempt by the government to entrench dialogue-driven governance and lay a foundation for credible reforms ahead of the 2027 General Election.
