What makes this tragedy even more grave is this: the attack occurred precisely at a time when the Islamic Republic of Iran was actively and genuinely engaged in a diplomatic process with the United States.

We entered negotiations in good faith — not out of trust, but to demonstrate the righteousness of the Iranian nation and to leave no pretext for aggression. And how were we answered? With bombs. With missiles. With the blood of our leaders.

This reveals the true nature of the United States and its unfaithful ally, the Zionist regime. They speak of diplomacy while planning murder. They extend a hand for negotiation while sharpening a knife with the other.

In accordance with Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, my country asserts its inherent and legitimate right to self-defense. The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will employ all necessary capabilities and resources to confront this criminal act of aggression and to repel the enemy’s hostile actions.

To the United States and the Israeli regime, I say this: you shall bear full and direct responsibility for all ensuing consequences. You have opened a door you may not be able to close.

To the nations of the region, to the Islamic world, to the members of the Non-Aligned Movement, and to all governments committed to international peace: this is not Iran’s fight alone. If aggression against Iran goes unanswered, it signals the erosion of international law and the collapse of institutions meant to uphold it. Today it is Iran. Tomorrow it could be any of you.

To the United Nations Security Council, we demand immediate convening and binding action to halt this aggression and uphold the very Charter upon which this institution stands.

And to the noble, resilient, and proud people of Iran: our path is clear. Our cause is just. We did not seek this war. It has been imposed upon us. But now that it has been imposed, the world will once again witness what the Iranian nation is capable of when its dignity, sovereignty, and leadership are attacked.

Inspired by the heroic legacy of this ancient land and guided by faith in Almighty God, our Armed Forces will defend the dignity and security of Iran with determination and unwavering strength.

History bears witness: Iranians have never submitted to foreign aggression — and we will not begin today.
