Nairobi, 22nd April 2026 – The Jubilee Party has called for unity within the opposition ahead of the forthcoming Ol Kalou by-election, urging its coalition partners to rally behind a single candidate under its banner.
In a press statement issued from its Nairobi offices at Daraja House, State House Road, the party paid tribute to the late Hon. David Kiaraho, the former Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency, describing him as a dedicated leader whose service was marked by humility and strong ties with his constituents.
Following his burial, the party confirmed that it will field a candidate in the upcoming by-election, citing its previous hold on the parliamentary seat. Jubilee assured its members and residents of Ol Kalou that the nomination process will be free, fair, and transparent, reflecting democratic principles.
At the same time, the party emphasized the importance of opposition unity, urging coalition partners to support a single joint candidate in order to strengthen their political standing and present a credible alternative to voters.
“This is a defining moment for the opposition. Kenyans are increasingly calling for unity of purpose, cooperation, and strategic leadership over fragmentation,” the statement read.
Jubilee highlighted its previous efforts toward opposition unity, noting instances in Mbeere North and Emurua Dikirr where it stepped aside or supported joint candidates in the spirit of collaboration. The party said such decisions were intentional and aligned with public expectations for a united political front.
However, Jubilee also clarified that it will participate in all electoral contests nationwide, including MCA, parliamentary, and presidential positions in the 2027 General Election.
The statement was signed by the Secretary General, Hon. Moitalel Ole Kenta.
