HONOURING LEGACY THROUGH UNITY: JUBILEE SG RALLIES OPPOSITION AHEAD OF OL KALOU BY-ELECTION

The Jubilee Party Secretary General has called for a united opposition front in the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election, framing the moment as both a tribute to the late Hon. David Kiaraho and a test of political maturity among rival parties.
Speaking following the conclusion of Kiaraho’s final rites, the SG described the fallen MP as a humble and dedicated servant whose legacy should inspire unity rather than division. The party reaffirmed that it will field a candidate in the by-election, noting that the seat rightfully belongs to Jubilee after being previously held under its banner.
At the same time, the SG extended an olive branch to coalition partners, urging them to rally behind a single opposition candidate under Jubilee to avoid splitting votes. He emphasized that Kenyans are increasingly demanding cooperation among opposition leaders, warning that fragmentation only weakens the credibility of an alternative government.
The SG pointed to past by-elections, including Mbeere North and Emurua Dikirr, where opposition parties agreed on joint candidates, as proof that unity is achievable and effective. He said such decisions were not acts of weakness but deliberate strategies aimed at strengthening the opposition’s national standing.
“This is a defining moment,” the SG noted, adding that Kenyans expect leaders to prioritize long-term national interests over short-term political gains.
Reaffirming Jubilee’s broader political ambitions, the SG stated that the party will field candidates across all positions in the next general election—from MCA seats to the presidency—while remaining committed to coalition principles.
The Ol Kalou by-election now emerges not just as a contest for leadership, but as a key indicator of whether the opposition can consolidate its strength ahead of future national polls.
