Fellow Kenyans,Statement by Rigathi Gachagua: Unity, Accountability, and Justice
Fellow Kenyans,
For a long time, I chose to remain silent on this matter. Not because I did not see what was happening—but because I believed that reason, dialogue, and leadership would prevail.
But there comes a time when silence becomes betrayal. That time is now.
What is happening in our country today calls for truth. It calls for accountability. And above all, it calls for courage. I want to state, without fear or hesitation, that it is only fair that we establish a public inquiry. Let the truth come out. Let Kenyans know what is happening behind the scenes.
Because a nation cannot move forward when its people are kept in the dark.
My fellow Kenyans, this is not about tribes. It is not about regions. It is not about political camps. This is about Kenya.
We are one people.
And I want to warn—clearly and firmly—those who are trying to divide families, communities, and regions for political convenience: stop it. Leave our families out of politics. Respect the unity of this nation.
We must also remember where we have come from. There are leaders who sacrificed greatly to build this country’s democratic space. They built strong political movements. They gave Kenyans a voice.
We cannot allow that legacy to be destroyed.
To every Kenyan—whether you come from Nyanza, Western, Central, Coast, Rift Valley, or Nairobi—I say this: Kenya belongs to all of us. Our future is shared.
And that is why we must now focus on what truly matters:
Truth, not lies
Accountability, not impunity
Unity, not division
We will not be silent when injustice is done. We will speak. We will demand answers. And we will stand firm for what is right.
But we will do so the Kenyan way—peacefully, lawfully, and with dignity.
Because this country is bigger than all of us.
Kenya is our home. And together, we will protect it.
