Nairobi was awash with anticipation as the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) officially received final preparations for the Africa Forward Summit 2026, a landmark continental gathering set to bring together more than 30 Heads of State, over 4,000 delegates, global investors, innovators, and development partners.
The ceremony, led by Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, marked a symbolic moment of readiness for Kenya as host nation.
Dr. Mudavadi praised the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife under Hon. Rebecca Miano, the KICC management, security agencies, technical teams, and international partners, including the Government of France, for their coordinated efforts in preparing Nairobi for the high-profile summit.
He noted that the Africa Forward Summit is not just another diplomatic meeting but a defining moment for Africa’s global engagement. The summit will focus on seven key thematic areas including reforms in global financial systems, energy transition, green industrialisation, the blue economy, food systems, artificial intelligence, health systems, and peace and security.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary emphasized that the event will also feature a major Business Forum bringing together 1,500 business leaders and investors, expected to unlock new investment opportunities, technology transfer, and commercial partnerships across the continent.
Kenya, he said, is proud to co-host the summit with France under the leadership of President William Ruto and President Emmanuel Macron, describing it as a milestone engagement that highlights Africa’s growing global influence.
Dr. Mudavadi further highlighted Nairobi’s rising status as a diplomatic and innovation hub, stressing that the success of the summit will be measured by tangible outcomes—job creation, strengthened industries, empowered youth, and improved livelihoods.
He called on the media to play an active role in shaping global understanding of the summit’s significance, urging deeper engagement on Africa’s future direction.
As preparations reach completion, Kenya has declared itself ready to welcome the world. “Let this Summit ignite a new spirit of African confidence,” Dr. Mudavadi said, adding that Africa must not only participate in shaping the future but lead it.
The Africa Forward Summit 2026 will take place in Nairobi on 11th and 12th May, positioning Kenya at the centre of a defining continental and global conversation.
